I wonder how many people watched Stage Three of Le Tour de France and were surprised by the beautiful Essex landscape. As the bikes raced through small villages and the back roads of Essex, there was no sign of the county that has been stereotyped by TOWIE, white stilettos and slightly rough just out of London towns.
The route passed by minutes from Slamseys – the countryside that everyone saw fly by on the TV is where I grew up and where I now work. When the sun is shining there’s nowhere I’d rather be, and when there’s a huge spectacular event like the Tour de France coming past – well isn’t that just the icing on the cake?!
